Trollope’s books always promise good soapy stories of middle-class Brits set in the second half of the nineteenth century. The LibriVox (free recordings of books in the public domain) version is excellent for use while exercising, cooking, cleaning – where you want some entertainment that does not require much concentration. This particular recording featured a variety of readers, some excellent, some ok. The use of several American readers is a bit jarring in a British book.
The Claverings is about a gentrified family, their kith and kin, love, love scorned, marriage, death, and steadfastness rewarded. Always enjoyable.
